We are pleased to welcome Katherine Moore as the new Director of Finance & Administration of the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, starting today, April 13, 2026.
Katherine brings a wealth of experience in strategic and operational leadership, most recently serving as Director of Operations & Strategic Initiatives for the Women’s Health Research Cluster at UBC. In that role, she oversaw key initiatives, staff and volunteers, while advancing fundraising, strategic planning, member engagement and partnership development. With a background in psychology and a career dedicated to advancing mental health and wellbeing, Katherine has extensive experience coordinating international research networks, supporting governance and operations, and facilitating knowledge mobilization to build research capacity and drive meaningful, system-level change. She is deeply committed to equity-informed leadership and to fostering collaborative environments that enable teams to thrive and maximize impact. We are excited for the vision, energy and expertise she brings to this role.
At the same time, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Chris Crossfield as he prepares to retire at the end of May after an extraordinary career. As one of the Centre’s original staff members, Chris has played a foundational role in shaping the DMCBH from its earliest days. From helping build the former Brain Research Centre to overseeing its transformation into the thriving, world-class facility we know today, his leadership has been instrumental. Since 2000, Chris has guided strategic and operational planning, major construction projects, and the growth of our research and clinical spaces, while supporting countless faculty, staff and trainees along the way. His collaborative spirit, deep institutional knowledge and dedication have left a lasting legacy at the DMCBH. On behalf of everyone at the Centre, we thank Chris for his remarkable service and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
