Dr. Larissa Kraus in Dr. Mark Cembrowski's lab has been awarded the Walter Benjamin fellowship from the German Research Foundation.

The fellowship is awarded to postdoctoral researchers who are in the eary stages of their postdoc career to launch their own research project. Dr. Kraus will be joining the Cembrowski lab in September, having recently completed her PhD in Berlin. Her research focuses on identifying subpopulations of cells in healthy and disease human brain tissue. She hopes to identify novel mechanisms to treat neurological diseases, such as epilepsy.

"This award recognizes Larissa's outstanding accomplishments and future scientific potential," says Dr. Cembrowski. "We are very fortunate and excited to have her as part of the DMCBH community."

Her award will be used to support her research, which is a collaboration between the Cembrowski lab and a team of neurosurgeons and neuropathologists at Vancouver General Hospital.

Congratulations to Dr. Kraus on this award!
