Dr. Mehwish Anwer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge. Dr. Anwer completed her postdoctoral training at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, University of British Columbia, in the laboratory of Dr. Cheryl Wellington, where she investigated molecular changes underlying traumatic brain injury and its relationship to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Her work integrates advanced spatial transcriptomics, high-resolution imaging, tissue clearing, and molecular profiling to map cellular and regional changes within the brain with unprecedented spatial resolution.

Dr. Anwer acquired her doctoral degree from University of Eastern Finland as a Marie Curie Fellow. Dr. Anwer is committed to fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and training the next generation of neuroscientists. She values the collaborative environment at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health and looks forward to maintaining strong research partnerships that advance our understanding of brain health and disease.
