Dr. Lara Boyd is a Professor and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia. She is both a Neuroscientist and Physical Therapist. Dr. Boyd directs the Brain Behaviour Lab at the University of British Columbia, which performs research that tests ideas surrounding how behaviour and brain health affect learning.
Since joining UBC in 2006, Dr. Boyd has published more than 200 papers and been awarded over $25 million in research dollars. She has won numerous awards for her research and mentorship. Additionally, Dr. Boyd’s TEDx talk “After this your brain will not be the same” has been viewed by over 40 million people.

Research Information
The Brain Behaviour Lab conducts research integrating two fields of study: neurobiology of motor learning and neural science of stroke recovery. Through a combination of motor testing, cognitive testing and neural imaging, Dr. Boyd and her team are able to examine how the human brain recovers from various types of injury and illness.
